Can I be sure that adoption is the right thing for me? This is probably one of the most difficult questions that you will ask yourself.

The prospect of having a child with you for the rest of your life is a life changing thing.

Adoption is a massive responsibility and you should only go in to the process if you are totally committed to it. There are going to be good times and bad times along the way. If you just want to care for something buy a dog or cat.

With adoption you give a family to a child that never thought they would experience one in their lives. But you also get to add a member to your family too.

There is not a correct protocol for being able to adopt. It may be that you feel that you are put on his Earth to help people less fortunate than yourself. It may be that you are not able to have kids of your own but want to raise a family. It may also be that you cannot bear the thought of going through childbirth but would still like a family. It does not matter what your reasons are for adopting.

If ever you consider the process of adoption you must ask yourself "do I have the patience to look after a child".

Children are not easy to handle every minute of the day. You only have to look around when you are out and about to see that some children can be very hard to handle at times. This is what parenthood is all about.

A child has his own mind and however hard you push them, they will grow up to be their own person with their own personality.

If you are confident that you have the finances and parenting skills and most important of all the time and love that it takes to give somebody a happy home, then you can consider applying to adopt.
