It is usually around two to three years old when your children start to display their temper tantrums. This is mainly due to the fact that at that age your child is trying to show you their frustrations. They can express the frustrations at that age but cannot seem to control the way they express them.

Language skills have not fully developed in children so young so they cannot get it across to their parents exactly what they are feeling.

Normally as the children get older and their language skills get better then we tend to see a decrease in the tantrums. Sometimes though there are still children that have tantrums at an older age.

Sometimes older children will use these tantrums as a way to get their parents attention. If they have a tantrum and you respond by giving them the attention that they crave then they may think that this is the correct way to go about things. This then leads them to repeat these tantrums whenever they want your attention.

The way to prevent this is when your child throws a tantrum you should just turn and walk away, no mater where you are. As many children hate to be alone they will soon respond by stopping the tantrum and checking to see where you have gone.

Once they have calmed down you can then see what they want and try to make them realize that this is the best way to get your attention and not by having a tantrum every time. The longer you give them what they want when they play up then the longer they will carry on playing up.

Never try to shout at your child when they are having their tantrum as this will only make matters worse. As the adult you should remain calm and in charge of the situation.

Make your children aware that rewards come when they are behaving and not when they are having tantrums and soon you could kiss the tantrums goodbye.

Classic Kids Toys Buying Guide

Play is critical in helping children develop both mental and physical skills, and toys are an ideal way we encourage them to express their creativity. Unfortunately, many of today's toys do not promote the same level of creativity and exercise that the classics of yesteryear provided. If you are concerned that your child is not learning all that they should, then consider adding a few old-time toys to their collection. Not only will you help them develop more, but you will be able to relive those moments of simple happiness as your own children enjoy playing with those same toys that were your favorites so many years ago.

Roller skates, baseball bats, bicycles, and hula hoops are just a few of the great classic toys to enjoy outside. Due to their everlasting entertainment value, most of these toys never really faded from the market. However, many parents view toys from the past as less safe than toys of today or simply not as cool as modern toys. Considering those parents probably enjoyed those same toys as a child, these opinions are peculiar to say the least.

One great retro toy that has been increasing in popularity recently is the all-steel pedal car. Today's versions include some extra safety measures that you will not remember from your old model, but they still provide that same wonderful thrill of riding around the neighborhood in your own car. Many of today's cars hark back to our own childhood, with designs borrowed from those classic 1960's models. There are few modern toys that can match an all-steel pedal car for durability, ease of use and just plain old fun.

For toys to enjoy inside, consider a set of Lego for your child. Lego has tailored their line for girls and boys alike to enjoy various building possibilities, including sets that will make luxury homes or palaces. However, even simpler versions of building block, such as the wooden building block, can still bestow a wealth of imagination and creativity. With so many technologically advanced toys on the market today, parents can forget that children will use virtually anything for play.

Another kind of retro toy that is an excellent choice for kids today are toys constructed out of wood. People might not even know that these kinds of toys are even still around; however you can still get them if you take the time to look around. A lot of shops on the Internet sell rocking horses, doll houses, and blocks all made out of wood. These wooden toys are as much fun these days as they were in the past. As the years go by, other kinds of toys will be considered retro; however the toys listed here are unquestionably going to be favorites long into the future.
